Day Lilies

We have a variety of daylilies in lots of beautiful colours.

Daylilies are easy to grow but like most perennials, they will give a more rewarding display if they are given a little care and attention and regular watering.

There is an old saying ‘If you can kill a daylily you should give up gardening!’

When planting, the crown should be planted about 2 cm below ground level and plants separated by about 60cm to 80cm in a well worked soil. Add a little compost or manure to improve the soil and you can use a slow release fertilizer at planting time to ensure good early and continued growth. Water the plants well until growth starts and then they can be treated the same as any other garden plant.

Daylilies will withstand drought and will also grow well in wet conditions. Most varieties give their best display in full sun but will also grow well in semi shade. Established clumps can be fed with Dynamic Lifter in late winter/early spring and again in late summer/early autumn. Clumps are best divided after 3 or 4 years to maintain optimum flower size, quality and quantity of flowers.
